Get ready for an afternoon of fun and excitement at Homestead Park! Join us on September 19th from 1 to 6 PM to cheer on your favorite Soap Box Derby Racer! Bring your friends and family for a day filled with community spirit and friendly competition. Who will take home the trophy?

Do you have what it takes? Get your team, build your vehicle and join in for some family fun at our Soap Box Derby race!

A soap box derby race is an exciting, gravity-powered event where participants race homemade, motor less cars down a sloped track. Built for speed and creativity, these small vehicles are typically crafted by kids (often with adult help) and emphasize engineering, design, and family fun competition.

If you’ve got at least 3 wheels, no more than 2 riders, seat(s) for the rider(s), a steering mechanism, working brakes (!), a helmet, and no motor or pedals (gravity only, y’all) – you basically have what it takes to enter the Chapel Hill Soap Box Derby.
