The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested and charged Alexander Quinn Zeman, 32, of Chapel Hill, following an armed robbery at Chapel Hill Community Center Park at 120 S. Estes Drive.
At about 12:18am, Zeman approached two people who were sitting in the park, demanded their keys at gunpoint, and stole their vehicle. There are no reports of injuries.
Officers discovered and arrested Zeman in the area of Elizabeth Street. He faces the following charges:
Robbery with a dangerous weapon
Assault by pointing a gun
Larceny of motor vehicle
Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
Going armed to the terror of the public
“From the moment our officers and investigators received this call, they worked quickly to identify and find this suspect,” said Chapel Hill Police Chief Celisa Lehew.
Zeman is expected to make his first appearance in court today at 2pm. He is being held at the Orange County Detention Center with no bond.
