The Town of Chapel Hill has launched a new Economic Development website  designed to showcase the town’s quality of life, attract investment, and serve as a resource for new and existing businesses.

Bringing in New Businesses

“This new site finally gives us a place that captures what life and business are truly like here in Chapel Hill,” said David Putnam, Economic Development Director. “We’re ready to show the world that Chapel Hill is a premier destination for innovative companies and entrepreneurs — and equally, a community that cares deeply about what your day looks like after work.”

With Chapel Hill’s strategic location and infrastructure within the Triangle, this website highlights what the Town can offer to developers and employers — from a highly competitive talent pipeline from UNC to strong incentives and funding opportunities to our proximity to RTP and three R1 universities.

Supporting Small Businesses

The new website will also make it easier for businesses to find what they need — from workforce resources to loans and grants, plus step‑by‑step guides on how to open a business in Chapel Hill.

“Small businesses are an important part of our community, and we know that opening a business can feel overwhelming,” said Sarah Potter, Business Vitality Manager. “We created a guide that lays out which permits and licenses you may need — from the Town, Orange County, or the state — all in one place.”

As part of the website project, the Town also worked with Focus Media to create a video that captures life in Chapel Hill. The Economic Development team collaborated with numerous small businesses to provide a realistic picture of the community and the culture that makes it so special.
