After months of work, we're excited to share our new Town website and visual brand.
About our new website
"With this new website, we’ve created a more user-friendly experience for all who visit our site," said Susan Brown, the Town's Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement. "Data shows that most often folks come to our site to complete tasks and find services. Now, the most requested tasks and most used services are front and center on our homepage."
The new website also brings a new domain – chapelhillnc.gov – which brings us up to date with best practices for government websites. In a few weeks, we'll update our staff email addresses as well.
While the new site is now live, it’ll continue to be a work in progress. We’ll keep adding, curating, and editing content. We’ll also continue to do the important work of ensuring that our site is accessible to all.
About our new government brand
Our website is launching alongside a new visual brand, which creates a modern, fresh, cohesive, and consistent look and feel across Town departments. The central image of the new logo is a stylized tulip poplar that represents both our community’s growth as well as our roots.
"This brand builds connection, awareness, and trust with the community members we serve," Brown said. “We were so pleased to have Carrboro Creative as our partners on this project. Their knowledge of the government and non-profit sectors really helped us turn community feedback into reality.”
Like the new website, implementing the new brand will be a work in progress for the coming weeks and months. For some time, you’ll continue to see both the new brand and the Town seal on signage, swag, vehicles, etc. Eventually, the Town seal will be used for official Town business such as contracts and Council documents.
