American Legion Task Force

In 2017, the Town purchased the 36-acre American Legion Post 6 property on Legion Rd. Council initiated a public engagement process to learn about the community's interests for the future of the property. They established the American Legion Task Force to represent a spectrum of community viewpoints. A consultant lead the public engagement process to produce conceptual options for future uses, and the Task Force offered feedback on the consultant's work, assisted with finalizing reports for Council, and advised on next steps in the overall planning process.

Recommendations

The Task Force presented two reports to Council - one in June 2017 and one in November 2017

June 2017 Report 

• This report included findings from a community charrette.
• Recommendations in this first report included principles for developing the property as well as future considerations.
• The report also included a recommendation for the Task Force to continue its work in fall 2017 to focus on developing criteria for evaluating uses and partnerships.
