Apply for Transitional Housing

Our Transitional Housing Program is for families living on a low income who want to transition from the Town's public housing to homeownership or private rental housing. Families who meet the criteria below are eligible to apply for this program. 

Eligibility Criteria

You're eligible if:

  • you're a current public housing resident
  • you pay your rent on time and haven't had any lease violations in the past 12 months
  • you're committed to establishing personal savings and housing goals, living in private market housing, and/or pursuing homeownership.

Program Details

  • Save 20 percent of your monthly rent in a savings account, to be used to purchase a home or market rate rental housing in the future.
  • Receive one-on-one support from a case manager to work towards your personal financial and housing goals.
  • Have access to classes and programs with local agency partners to help you work towards your goals.
  • Families are eligible to stay in the program for a maximum of five years. During the five-year period, the family must engage in financial counseling and/or homeownership workshops.

  • After you submit a program application and we determine that you're eligible, we'll place you on a program waitlist.
  • Once a vacancy becomes available, we'll notify eligible households.
