Regional Partners

GoTriangle offers routes between Chapel Hill and Durham (Routes 400 and 405) and Chapel Hill and RTP (Route 800 and 805).

  • Route 400 serves UNC Campus, UNC Hospitals, and Franklin Street.
  • Route 405 serves Jones Ferry Park & Ride, Downtown Carrboro, and Franklin St.
  • Both routes travel to Durham Station with stops near Duke University, VA Hospital, and Downtown Durham.
  • Route 800 serves UNC Hospitals and UNC campus. It connects to the Streets at Southpoint, Research Triangle Park, and the Regional Transit Center
  • Route 805 also serves UNC Hospitals and UNC Campus. It travels to Woodcroft Shopping Center and the Streets at Southpoint.

If your employer or college is a GoPass participant, you may qualify for a free or discounted bus pass. Check your eligibility.

Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) offers the Alamance Burlington Express (Route 4).

  • Route 4 stops at UNC Hospitals and on Franklin St.
  • Destinations include Mebane, Graham, Burlington, Greensboro, and Piedmont Triad Airport.

NC Intercity Bus - Piedmont Pass - is a daily intercity bus route that Greyhound operates. 

  • Chapel Hill's Piedmont Pass stop is located at the Eubanks Parks & Ride at 2000 Eubanks Rd.
  • The westbound route starts in Raleigh and stops in Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Statesville, Hickory/Newton, and Asheville.
  • Greyhound and Flixbus also operate a route between Charlotte and Raleigh that stops at the Eubanks Parks & Ride lot.

Additional Regional Transit Options

Transportation needs may take our community members beyond the boundaries of Chapel Hill. Because of this, the Town works with neighboring agencies to improve transit throughout the region.

Chapel Hill and Carrboro offer great options for biking and walking, with excellent bike infrastructuregreenway systems, bike lanes, parks, and pedestrian-friendly areas that make it easy to get around sustainably.

Use Bus Bike Racks

All Chapel Hill Transit, GoTriangle, and PART buses are equipped with bike racks that can accommodate non-electric bikes. Practice using them on E. Franklin St. at Carolina Coffee Shop or on W. Main St. in Carrboro in front of Carrboro Town Hall.

Use Self-Service Bike Repair Stations

All bike repair stations around Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and UNC include a mounting bar, air pumps, tools, and QR code for online repair tutorials. Stations are located:

  • at the bus stop on E. Franklin St. at Carolina Coffee Shop
  • at the entrance to the Libba Cotten Bikeway at by the ArtsCenter in Carrboro
  • at the Morgan Creek trailhead
  • in front of the Chapel Hill Police Department (7300 Millhouse Rd.)
  • in between the Frank Porter Graham Student Union and Davis Library

Share the Ride NC (STRNC) is a free, statewide platform that can help you find commute partners, plan sustainable trips, and track your commuting habits while earning rewards.

  • Create an account at ShareTheRideNC.org or download the STRNC app.
  • Find matches for carpool and vanpool options near your home and work locations. You can also find biking partners with similar routes.
  • Log your trips to track your impact and earn rewards through GoPerks.
  • Join challenges for extra prizes.

Interested in the GoPerks program?

  • Use an online calendar to track each day you use a smart commute. Each sustainable trip earns points, and points are redeemed for entries in monthly drawings for prizes.
  • It's open to employees and university students who live, work, or study in Durham, Orange, or Wake counties.
