Council Meeting Highlights from March 25, 2026 Meeting

Town Council met for a regular meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill Town Hall. Full agenda and meeting minutes are here. Highlights of the meeting include:  

EMPOWERment Day Proclamation 

Council proclaimed Wednesday, March 25 as EMPOWERment Day in Chapel Hill and encouraged all residents to recognize and celebrate the lasting contributions of EMPOWERment to strengthening communities, expanding opportunity, and advancing equity for all.  

National Library Week Proclamation 

Council proclaimed April 19 – 25 as National Library Week in Chapel Hill and encouraged all residents to visit their library explore its resources and celebrate all the ways that the library helps our community find joy.  

FY2025 Excess Fund Balance Appropriation 

Council voted 6-2 to appropriate $3 million in excess fund balance from Fiscal Year 2025 to a variety of projects and needs. 

Public Housing Annual Plan, Admissions, and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP)  

Council voted 8-0 to approve the Town’s Public Housing Annual Plan and ACOP.
