More Information
The Trinity Court redevelopment is part of an effort to revitalize our aging public housing stock, to improve housing conditions, and where possible, increase density to make more efficient use of Town land. It's adjacent to the Northside neighborhood and is surrounded by multi-family and single-family homes.
Originally built in 1975, Trinity court offered 40 units of public housing to families until it was vacated in 2018 due to structural deficiencies and deterioration of buildings.
Goals for his project include:
- Replace all public housing units originally located at the site.
- Maximize the number of additional affordable units on the site.
- Adjust the bedroom mix to match demand while maintaining the current total bed count.
- Ensure new development is compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods and fits within the constraints of the site.
- Minimize the need for Town gap financing through leverage of outside funding.
In May 2020, Council asked staff to begin planning for a comprehensive redevelopment.
In June 2021, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Community Housing Partners (CHP) to lead the effort to plan, demolish, and reconstruct the community.
In April 2022, Council approved a conditional zoning for the site that includes 54 units of affordable housing to serve households earning incomes at our below 30% of Area Median Income up to households serving less than 80% of Area Median Income.
In October 2022, the project received a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit that brought more than $10 million in funding to the project.
The project broke ground in June 2024 and began leasing in winter 2026.
