The crews in our Streets and Construction Division ensure safe and well-maintained roadways throughout the Town. From repairing potholes and sidewalks to removing snow and ice during winter weather, their work is critical for our community.
Report a pothole or sidewalk issue
Our core services include:
Street Maintenance:
- We repair potholes, sidewalks, and other roadway issues to keep streets in top condition.
Street Resurfacing:
- We improve road surfaces for durability and smooth travel.
Snow and Ice Removal:
- We clear streets during winter weather to maintain safe access for residents and emergency services.
- Under certain circumstances, we use brine as an anti-icing or pre-wetting measure. We also sand bridges and steep streets when freezing conditions are likely.
- NCDOT crews pretreat and plow state-maintained roads, including Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Franklin St., Manning Dr., South Rd./Raleigh Rd./Hwy 54
- Because narrow, winding streets or dead ends aren't as easy to maneuver, these kinds of streets might not be as clear after plowing.
- Plow operations begin when snow accumulates to about two inches.

Street Cut Permits
We require street cut permits when you need to cut into a Town-maintained road or sidewalk to maintain or connect to an underground utility. We also require a 5-year warranty on all cuts and restoration work performed by the utility company or private contractor.
